How much historical data to use

What would you recommend in general for how far back we go on the charts iwth historial data, 1 year, 2 year, 6 months?
Or is this just a personal preference?

Grant it the more historical data we have the longer it'll take the system to open.

I think that it is very much a personal preference and also depends on what time frame you are trading.

When I am using Colt, I like to have some historical data to scroll back on and I think that the last 3000 candles is more than adequate.
