Hello Dorothy

No apologies necessary, its nice to have you on the forum.

IDS is basically a trade terminal: you can buy, sell, place orders and monitor prices in the basic tick charts. What you can't do with it is any form of technical analysis. It does not support candle charts or bar charts and you cannot access sufficient historical data. To do this kind of thing you need some technical analysis software which is where Rumus2 comes in. Rumus2 comes complete with its own trade terminal and therefore you don't need IDS if you're using Rumus2.

You need to use Rumus2 for the Colt FX system. It can be a little daunting a first. Take a look at the tutorials at http://www.fxclub.com/forex-platform/, read through the Rumus2 thread on this forum and if you don't understand anything please ask us: that's why we're here :)

Hi Dennis,

Due to the electricity situation in South Africa I am looking for an alternative to using my home PC.

Is the IDS Mobile also just a trade terminal? Can you use Rumus on the pocket PC?

What would you suggest: a pocket PC or a laptop?

Thanks
Talita

Hi Talita

:) Shopping for new kit is my favourite kind of shopping!

As far as I am aware IDS mobile is just a mobile version of IDS. FCFC also have a new service R-Web which is also designed for mobile devices. You could take a closer look at them at http://fxclub.com/forex-platform/

However, if you want to do some serious charting, I think you would be far better off getting a new lap top.

It's only my opinion mind and you might as well check all the options out carefully and see what works best for you.

Let me know what you go for.

All the best

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the advice.

I looked at R-Web but it seems that you can only view the chart; the use of indicators is not possible. I will probably go for the laptop because I don't know how to place a trade without analyzing the charts first.
